Making Music From The Fibonacci Sequence

Some mathematicians, who listen to music (almost all of them), believe that the Fibonacci sequence occurs in music. Can you believe that? The use of the Fibonacci system can be seen in Mozart's music, and modern day compositions. The most widely used instrument in music, the piano, displays the use of Fibonacci numbers. For instance, there are 13 notes that separate each octave of 8 notes in a scale. The foundation of a scale is based around the 3rd and the 5th tones. Both pitches are whole tones, which are 2 steps from the 1st note of the scale, also called the root.

Novation BassStation Rack

The Bass Station is an incredible little synth and was an instant success when released. It is a monophonic analog bass synthesizer and is basically the first new analog synth to hit the modern music market. It is great at recreating classic TB-303 lines and fat Moog tones. Every control from the original synths can be found on this: ADSR, VCF, VCA, oscillator sync modes, tuning, and LFO.

MOOG The Source Vintage Analog Mono Synth

Moog's Source was their first to offer patch memory storage as well as some other new features. It boasted 16 memory locations so you could finally save and recall your synth patches. A casette-tape jack was also implemented to transfer your patches to and from an external tape and free up the on-board memory for additional new patches.

Electrocomp 101 Synthesizer Keyboard

About 1,000 of these modular synths were made in the late 70's, so it certainly isn't the rarest thing you're going to come across, but it's not the sort of thing you see popping up on Ebay or in pawn shops too often. 4 oscillators, a multimode filter, and it folds up like a suitcase making it much more portable than the average modular.

RP Avatar

A commercial failure, the Avatar was originally designed to be driven by a guitar with hex pickups. Many people drive it with CV, though, to use like a synth expander, especially as the architecture and sound is very similar to the highly-regarded Odyssey.
